First-Time Clients

We can't wait to meet you and your pet; we do anything we can to ensure you and your pet are

COMFORTABLE.

Since pets age at a much quicker rate than humans, these visits will become increasingly important in the early detection of any changes in their health. Save time and fill out your paperwork online.

Taconic Veterinary Center is proud to serve the Cortlandt, NY area for everything pet-related. We always strive to become your partner in your pet’s healthcare.

Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise. Taconic Veterinary Center stays on top of the latest advances in veterinarian technology and above all, remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.

At Taconic Veterinary Center, we strive to always keep your pet healthy and up-to-date. Our annual exams (yearly physicals) are comprehensive and performed by our veterinarians. They examine all your pet’s organ systems (such as eyes, ears, mouth, heart, lungs, skin, abdomen, etc). We also are able to update all your vaccines during your physical.
In order to ensure your new pet gets the best possible start towards a lifetime of good health in their new home, we recommend introducing us promptly to your furry friend. At this first appointment, your veterinarian will check for the following and discuss any and all of your concerns regarding your new buddy. These services are also provided at your annual exam (yearly physical):

  • Clear eyes, ears and nose
  • Heart and respiration
  • Abdomen palpation
  • Proper bite placement
  • Any signs of infection or parasites
  • Proper growth and development
  • Presence of hernia
  • Initial vaccinations and a proper vaccination schedule tailored to your pet

To ensure that our staff has time to answer all your questions, we’d like to complete any needed paperwork before your scheduled appointment time. Thus, please arrive 10 minutes early so that we can review your paperwork, and to ensure continuity of your care, please bring any previous documentation with you. See you soon!

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet by placing on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept most major debit and credit cards. We also accept Care Credit, a charge account with rates as low as 0% and provide longer payment options.

Taconic Veterinary Center is able to treat dogs and cats. We are happy to provide you with referrals for other furry companions, just give us a call!

Protection for your pet, peace of mind for you! It’s never a good time for a medical emergency. When your pet needs treatment, whether it’s for urgent care or a major illness, you don’t want to say “no” because of the cost. Pet insurance gives you the peace of mind you need to say “yes.” We believe in the power of pet insurance —we’ve seen it help families take better care of their animal companions and afford life-saving procedures for their pets. When your pet has a medical emergency, knowing you have pet insurance will help ease your mind.

There are many health insurance and wellness plan options, and we suggest you do some research before choosing a plan for your pet. Like health insurance for people, pet policies have different deductibles, co-payments and premiums.

If you are considering health insurance for your pet, Trupanion is an excellent option. They offer one plan with 90% coverage and no payout limits, and customer service is available 24/7. Best of all, they pay veterinary bills directly. Learn more about Trupanion.

While Trupanion offers one plan, ASPCA’s Complete Coverage is customized to your pet’s needs—and they have separate plans for dogs and cats. The plans offer things you’d expect for your pet when they’re hurt or sick. It covers the exam fees and costs of diagnostics and treatment for accidents, illnesses, hereditary conditions and behavioral issues. Get all the coverage basics, like what it includes, how much it costs, and how to use it. Learn more about ASPCA.
